Emirates Expands Premium Economy to 84 Cities, Grows A380 Fleet to 110 Aircraft

Emirates is expanding its Premium Economy cabin to 84 destinations by July 2026 and growing its A380 fleet to around 110 active aircraft, as the Dubai-based carrier ramps up capacity ahead of the northern summer travel season.

Premium Economy Expands to New Cities

Emirates is rolling out Premium Economy seating to several new destinations in 2026, including Cape Town, Brisbane, Basra, Kuwait City, and Tehran for the first time. The expansion brings the total number of cities offering the airline’s Premium Economy product to 84, reflecting strong demand for the cabin since its 2021 launch.

A380 Fleet Set to Grow to 110 Aircraft

Emirates President Tim Clark confirmed the airline plans to grow its active Airbus A380 fleet from 94 to approximately 110 aircraft by the end of 2026. The carrier currently owns 116 A380s in total and is investing 6 billion dollars in a comprehensive retrofit program, with in-house cabin manufacturing helping support reliability and consistency across the fleet.

More Frequencies on Key Routes

From July 1, 2026, Emirates will operate a third daily flight to Cape Town using all three of its widebody aircraft types, while Copenhagen and Phuket are also gaining additional daily frequencies. The airline says the mixed fleet approach gives passengers more flexibility while maintaining its signature onboard experience across routes.

Why This Matters for Travellers

With Emirates targeting both fleet growth and broader Premium Economy access, travellers flying through Dubai can expect more seating choices and added capacity on several long-haul and regional routes heading into summer 2026. The airline intends to keep operating the A380 until at least 2041, underscoring its long-term commitment to the aircraft as a flagship product.
