Peshawar BRT is increasing its bus fleet to meet growing demand and improve services.

TransPeshawar plans to boost its fleet by adding 86 new buses from the same Chinese automaker, driven by the growing popularity of the Peshawar BRT.

According to media reports, the new buses will be deployed on new feeder routes. TransPeshawar has officially stated that the increasing popularity and usage of the BRT service have prompted them to expand their fleet to maximize its effectiveness.

The statement highlighted that:

TransPeshawar would purchase 86 State-of-the-art new buses from China to operationalize more feeder routes on time. After the arrival of 86 new buses, a total of 244 buses would be in BRT’s fleet [and] more feeder routes will start soon.

Taimur Khan Jhagra, the Finance and Health Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), highlighted the government’s proactive efforts to enhance the public transportation sector. He announced the approval of six additional feeder routes to facilitate the people of Peshawar.

Jhagra specified that the new feeder routes will cover areas such as Hayatabad Phase 1 extension, Nasirbagh Road, Regi Model Town (RMT), Chamkani – Jhagra, Pabbi, Warsak Road, Khyber Road, and Charsadda Road.

The award ceremony, held in Washington DC, recognized three cities worldwide that have modernized their infrastructure, prioritized sustainability, and improved accessibility and mobility for people.

Peshawar was honored for providing contemporary transportation solutions to around 200,000 passengers daily. Additionally, during the same month, the BRT Standard Technical Committee ranked Peshawar’s BRT system as a Gold Standard Service.

The BRT Standard Technical Committee evaluates each service based on global best practices. Dr. Walter Hook, one of the committee members, commented that Peshawar’s BRT has consistently adhered to all aspects of international best practices.
