Suzuki is reportedly considering a significant price increase for the Swift model in the near future.

On 24th February, Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) officially launched the new generation of Swift with a hefty price tag after an 11-year hiatus. However, within less than a month, there are speculations that the automaker is planning to increase the price of its flagship hatchback by up to Rs. 300,000, as reported by autojournal.pk.

Suzuki had introduced the Swift GL manual (base variant) priced at Rs. 2.5 million, the GL CVT (mid variant) priced at Rs. 2.7 million, and the GLX CVT (top variant) priced at Rs. 2.9 million. However, with the anticipated price hike, the mid variant will now cost Rs. 3 million, and the top variant will be priced at Rs. 3.2 million. This price increase seems unreasonable considering the availability of better alternatives in that price range.

While Suzuki claims to “serve the largest and underserved community of Pakistan,” the potential price hike could potentially disappoint its customers, especially those who have recently made reservations for the Swift. However, it’s important to note that this information has not been confirmed by Suzuki yet, so it should be taken into consideration with caution.

Despite initially considering a price of Rs. 3 million for its flagship hatchback, the automaker ultimately decided otherwise and received praise for keeping the price below the Rs. 3 million mark during the send-off ceremony.

An increase in the pricing of the Swift could potentially impact its sales and overall appeal, as potential buyers may start considering other cars within the same price range as alternatives.
